Well, 2024 seems to be a continuation of the chaos of 2023 with bitter winter weather thrown in for good measure. One of USA Today’s headlines recently read “US strikes Houthi rebels in joint Yemen bombing with UK. How close are we to all-out war?” Last week social media erupted in reports of 10 ft. aliens roaming around a Miami mall. This led to many people learning about an Old Testament term – Nephilim – the hybrid combination of fallen angels and human beings, as some people connected the supposed aliens to these creatures. Add to this the start of the NFL playoffs with all its hoopla, and you have the perfect mixture of excitement, anxiety, confusion and nervousness.
There seems to be little to no peace. Too many voices clamor for our attention. Does that describe your reality? What can we do about it?
The Bible speaks often about peace for true peace comes only from God. A quick internet search yielded many verses, but I chose those listed below:
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
“Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.” 2 Thessalonians 3:16
It’s important to listen to the right Voice, not the many voices surrounding us. God promised to be with you, regardless of your circumstances. Trust Him.
God bless – Sue
